Art as Meditation: Embodiment and Spirit: Clay as a Spiritual Practice-#61034AInstructor: Kat McIver, Ph.D., R.E.A.T. Faculty Bio: Kat is a ceramic artist, registered expressive arts therapist/educator, and spiritual counselor. Grounded in her personal transformation through art and her doctoral research, the process she's developed of giving the body space to speak allows the wisdom of the soul to be heard. Kat invites you to join in the deep insightful process of discovering the joy and power that comes with the embodiment of life force energy through movement, breath, and art. Kat is currently a faculty mentor/advisor for the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology's Global Program and Prescott College in Tucson. She also teaches at ITP, Naropa, University of Creation Spirituality in California and The Interfaith Seminary, and Hasychia School for Spiritual Direction in Arizona. Her private practice in Tucson continues to grow. Course Description:This course will explore the relationship between body and spirit using movement, meditation, and clay. As spiritual practice these modalities call forth the intuitive, subtle body's voice through the imaginal language of the soul. In a gentle space of compassion and nurturance, we will share our soul's journey - both the light and shadow - bringing Spirit into form through the body's gestures in clay. Through this deep involvement in our own and earth matter we will discover the erotic life force energy that fuels all creativity, and unites us as one being.
