Art-as-Meditation: Acts of the Spirit: The Art of Embodying Creation - # 61063

Instructor: David Sharp

Faculty Bio:
David is a teacher, writer, performer and minister. He has worked as a church pastor, university lecturer and professional entertainer. He has performed on Broadway as an actor, singer and dancer and in numerous television and film productions. He has taught in the field of performing arts and culture at the University of Southern California, and U.C. Berkeley. Presently, through his motivational speaking company, SHARP PERFORMANCES, David uses the concept of Innertainment to teach spirituality through the performance arts. He has spoken and performed extensively in the U.S. and abroad, has keynoted several national conferences, workshops and conventions as well as a variety of local, civic and religious events. He has a B.F.A. degree in drama from the University of Southern California, a Master of Divinity degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from the University of Creation Spirituality.

Course Description:
Acts of the Spirit teaches a unique method of connecting to the universe. Using the art of acting, incorporating the tools and techniques which actors use to create character and mirror life&.participants will learn how to embody creation. We will experience the transformational power of images, seek the divinity in a single moment or action, experiencebeing other life forms and objects while gaining direct knowledge of their unique sacredness, and connect to the world in a way that touches deeply. We will explore the energy of our emotions and learn how to control them. Participants will learn how these skills can be used in daily life and how they can help increase ones ability to be sensitive and compassionate. Through this art-as-meditation class, we will experience the force of imagination and the power of being authentic. Ultimately, this class offers an opportunity to deepen ones understanding that every expression of life is an Act of the Spirit.
