Art as Meditation: A Multi Media Approach: Telling Your Life Story - # 61067

Instructor: Betty McAfee

Faculty Bio: Betty did graduate work at Yale Divinity School and has an M.A. from Holy Names College. Retired after 20 years of work in the Berkeley Public Schools, she is an independent photographer, filmmaker, videographer, writer/poet and multi-media producer. Her more recent works include: “Journeys of the Spirit: Illumination of the Four Paths of Creation Spirituality”, “Waking-Up: One Woman’s Life Story” and the award winning video, “What’s the Cost of Your Blouse”

Course Description: This class provides students with a safe and encouraging environment in which to remember, report and reflect on their lives within the context of the history of the times in which they have lived and within the context of Creation Spirituality. This course will include a performance of “Waking Up” (a multi-media production of the Instructor’s life story) and guest speakers who have found various ways of telling their stories. The heart of the course will be the students’ growing awareness of their biography “as a work of art” and experimentation with creative ways of telling their stories.
