Course Description: This course will engage students in exploring the dimensions of Jungian personality type for deeper self-knowledge, understanding of spirituality, and insight into their path of work in the world.

Course Objectives:

§         To gain insight into our unique personality types as the ‘original blessings’ that we are & to explore the value of differences in personality type

§         Using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator as a tool, to gain understanding of how personality type affects interactions among individuals and groups, e.g problem-solving, decision making

§         To explore how both spirituality and work may be related to our personality type, and to recognize areas of growth and integration in relation to each of these

 

Course Requirements/Expectations: 

Please note: In addition to the course requirements listed below, the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) will be offered to each class participant beforehand.  The MBTI is in question/answer format and takes about 30 minutes to complete.  It is highly recommended that students take the MBTI so as to have their scores available for class on April 17.

Required reading:  1. Hirsh and Kummerow, Life Types (before class meets: Read Part I (chapters 1-4) and at least four chapters from Part II .

2. Selected articles (available from Naropa Oakland)

Recommended reading: Miller, William A., Your Golden Shadow

Outline of class themes, activities and assignments:

Saturday morning: Introduction to Jungian personality type. Explanation of Myers Briggs Type Indicator as it relates to one’s personality type and preferences.

Saturday afternoon: Continued exploration of personality type with focus on spirituality.

Sunday morning: Personality type and work: gifts, challenges, team work, etc.

 

Art as Meditation: Saturday 3:30-6:30 p.m.
The Ecstacy of Sound : Music as Spiritual Practice ( Jennifer Berezan )

Experience the power of music to heal, open our hearts, and access wisdom and joy in the present moment.
Singer/Songwriter/Ritualist Jennifer Berezan will gently guide us on a journey into sound and music as a spiritual practice including traditional and contemporary expressions.
The class will include chanting, toning, rhythm song and ritual in a safe and supportive setting.
No musical experience is necessary.
