THE YOGA OF SOUND
EXPANSIONS IN CONSCIOUSNESS AND HEALING

with

Russill Paul

An in-depth exploration of sonic mysticism for social workers, healers, music therapists and yoga practitioners.

CEUs available through Naropa University Oakland.

Chant and music have been clinically endorsed for their amazing therapeutic effects: lowering of blood pressure, stabilizing of heart rate, improved circulation and to assist in the production of beneficial chemicals such as interleukin.

This powerful weekend program introduces you to the Vedic, Tantric and Bhakti streams of sonic mysticism from India. Of these, only the devotional is known and practiced in America. During this seminar, you will be taught a wide variety of techniques and applications using mantras, mudras and ragas.

Mantras are sonic formulae that help to focus a healing intent in the body
and the mind. Mudras are sacred gestures that help configure an energetic circuitry in the body. Ragas are specific musical modes that stimulate and channel healing emotions.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: For the past decade, Russill Paul has taught in the graduate spirituality programs of Naropa University Oakland and in the post-graduate spirituality program of the University of Creation Spirituality, also in Oakland, CA. He is recognized nationwide as a forerunner in understanding and applying the full scope of sonic mysticism available in the Indian tradition of yoga. Russill Paul has produced a number of acclaimed albums of yoga music and chant including The Yoga of Sound, a 3-CD audio program and is the author
of the forthcoming book The Yoga of Sound: The Healing Power of Chant and Mantra. He presents his work widely in North America and internationally.
