Naropa Oakland M.A. course

March 1 and 2, 2003

With Joanna Macy, Ph.D.

Title: "Deep Time: Reconnecting with Past & Future Generations"

Description: Our industrial growth society conditions us to a peculiar and inherently destructive experience of time. It perpetually accelerates, while removing us ever farther from past and future generations. The transition to a life-sustaining society requires that we attune to longer, ecological rhythms and nourish a strong, felt connection with both the ancestors and those who come after us. To reinhabit time and its deeper rhythms is our birthright; it informs our minds, refreshes our spirits, and becomes a source of resilience and vision for the healing of our world. In this one-credit course we will learn theory and practices for incorporating deep time into our lives.
