THE PERSONAL GRAIL AND THE PUBLIC WASTELAND: THERAPY, CREATIVITY, AND THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE COLLECTIVE
Workshop Leader: Jeremy Taylor
Date: May 7, 2004 9 am 4:30 pm
DESCRIPTION: The language of dreams is universal and addresses everyone in essentially the same archetypal fashion. The health and wholeness promoted and served by the dream is also collective, and is not limited by the envelope of skin of the individual dreamer. The vehicle for this promotion of collective health and wholeness is often the "shadow" (both dark and bright). A deeper appreciation of the much-despised shadow, and the archetypal creative impulse it regularly embodies, leads not only to personal growth and the increasingly conscious understanding of confusing emotions, but also releases energies that are capable of shaping and transforming society as a whole.
Participants will gain an understanding of:
1. how to work with dreams in a group context, using the "projective" technique
2. archetypal projective skills & techniques for exploring and "unpacking" dream narratives and dream experiences
3. the ways in which dreams impact our creative solutions to both personal and transpersonal problems
4. ways to extend personal emotional & psychological understandings into the realm of communal experience
